Blackhawks Trade For Kimmo Timonen

The Blackhawks acquired Kimmo Timonen from the Philadelphia Flyers friday night. The Blackhawks gave up a second round pick in 2015 and a fourth round pick in 2016. Timonen will turn 40 years old in March and hasn't played a game yet all season due to blood clots. 

"I'm really excited about joining the Chicago team It's been a tough couple days. I always wanted to retire in philadelphia. Again, my goal was to win the Stanley Cup and get into the playoffs. I feel like this was the right move." Timonen told the media on Friday. 

Timonen will arrive in Chicago on Saturday and and will practice with the team on Sunday, Although the team is unsure if Timonen will play in the Blackhawks next game which is Monday.

Steve Montador Passes Away At Age 35

   The hockey world was hit with the sad news that 35 year old former defenseman Steve Montador  passed away yesterday. There doesn't seem to be foul play involved in the passing of Montador, but rather of natural causes
   Montador played in 571 NHL games with the Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, Anahim Ducks, Boston Bruins, Buffalo Sabres and of course the Chicago Blackhawks. He scored 33 goals and had 98 assists. Montador played 52 games in Chicago and had five goals and nine assists he suffered a concussion in 2012 his last year in the league. 
   The Blackhawks issued a team statement "With deep sadness we mourn the unfortunate loss of former Blackhawks Steve Montador. We join the many others throughout the NHL in keeping Steve's family and friends in our thoughts and prayers in thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
